Our Founder’s Story

A sales and marketing businessman with a lifelong (well at least after college) passion for healthy food that tastes good, Phil Sky began his career in the food industry spending one year as a military baker. He spent several years in the restaurant industry working for humble Howard Johnson’s before working his way up to the kitchen of The Four Seasons in New York. Eventually, he and his wife, Roz, owned and operated their own butcher shop and then restaurant in State College PA. Phil’s love of the food industry blossomed when he returned to hometown Altoona, PA and joined the family business, Sky Bros. Food Service and Distribution. Under the leadership of Phil and his family for more than twenty years, Sky Bros. grew and became so successful, that it was sold to a larger company, Saralee, Inc. Today, the business operates on a national level as part of the US Foodservice conglomerate.

Since leaving Sky Bros., Phil has pursued various interests and product development in the food industry as an entrepreneur. But he always comes back to his love of oatmeal, how to make it a better tasting more nutritious product and ultimately how it could be adapted to a busy on the go lifestyle. Oatmeal without a spoon—and he has finally met success with his patented dashboard friendly Oats to Go Wrap. As Phil says, “Eating is believing.”
